Protective Equipment
Posted by Geoff Gooding on 11th March, 2010
Due to our obligation for the safety of all of our members and to yourselves it is imperative that we clarify rule 18 of the Bipha Rule book relative to the requirements of protective equipment for your own safety and compliance of the insurance cover.
The following summarises the requirements, please note all equipment should be used and correctly worn at all times as per below. If you have any further questions please refer to rule 18 of the Bipha rule book directly.
Helmets with full face guards, Gloves, Elbow pads, Shin pads, Padded shorts, Pelvic Protection (box), and Upper Body protection is a mandatory requirement for all U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18 age groups.
Helmets, Gloves, Elbow pads, Shin pads, Padded shorts, Pelvic Protection (box), are mandatory requirements for U21 age group, upper body protection is optional but recommended, face guards are mandatory but may be half visor type.
Helmets, Gloves, Elbow pads, Shin pads, Padded shorts, Pelvic Protection (box), are mandatory requirements for senior age groups, upper body protection and face protection is optional but recommended.
IN ADDITION NECK GUARDS ARE OPTIONAL AT ANY AGE GROUP.
Any player playing up age groups as permitted within the rules must comply to the rules and guidelines of their birth age group.
All requirements must be met for all players that by age qualifies them for that age group, example an actual 19 year old that qualifies to play U18 this season has to meet the requirements of the U18 age group.
Responsibilities:
It is the responsibility of the team coach / and or manager to ensure that all of THEIR team members comply to the above added to the personal responsibility of the player.
It is NOT the responsibility of Officials to ‘check’ for suitable equipment, how ever if a player is found to be non compliant a request to correct the equipment will be given, in the event this is not taken a minor penalty shall be awarded and the player will not be permitted to return to the game until corrected.
Any infringements to the above found after the game shall receive a warning for future games but no retrospective penalty actions shall be taken.
Although physical kit checks will not be administered making this difficult to manage, we advise all club management and players to adhere to the above for your own safety. Your own safety and insurance cover will be at risk with any non-compliance of the above should it not be seen by the game officials.
